Hello and happy valentine’s day to you!
I spent some time looking up, on our trusty internet, the history of this holiday. The versions seem endless. However it started, I enjoy telling people they are loved and showing it by little, sometimes inconsequential gifts, that they are loved and special. I don’t ascribe to to the statement of the cynics, “Valentines’s day was created by the card companies and purveyors of small, medium and large gifts.”
I come from the framework of the Bible, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves (Agape love = choosing the highest good for the object of our love) is born of God and knows God. He who does not love, does not know God, for God is love. In this, the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” 1 John 4:7-11
“And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God and God in him.” 1 John 4:16
Love is something we give away and somehow it boomerangs back to us. Love well ! !
