Do you recognize the title? If you are a Hallmark movie fan, you could possibly remember the scenario and the actors. Maybe when you watched it, you wondered… who would want to go through all of that just to get married to the rancher’s daughter. “THAT,” refers to the father’s attitude, comments, and actions toward this city slicker, who knew nothing about ranching, horses, riding horses, etc.
What interested me the most was his determination. It all made for a very funny movie, but, I was impressed. For a city slicker he had perseverance and had to die to his pride on a moment to moment basis. In the end he won the girl and the father’s consent.
The picture at the top of the page is one that hangs in our ministry room. Since you can’t see the small writing, I will let you know what it says… “Our greatest glory lies not in never failing, but in rising every time we fall.”
So many times in life we have to pick ourselves up and keep going, or change directions, or admit we are wrong; this is where stubbornness, pride, anger, and unforgiveness gets in the way.
What are you willing to do for love? The love of the Father, Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit. It is a free gift. You don’t have to do what the boyfriend had to do to be accepted. Simply ask Jesus to come into your heart. “But to all who believed in Him and accepted Him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn! This is not a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan – this rebirth comes from God.”
(John 12:12, 13 New Living Translation)
